A small and charming Victorian genre painting by the well-known Brittish artist J. O. Banks which is being sold unframed. Banks lived in London between 1856 and 1873 and some of his paintings were exhibited at the Royal Academy. From the label on the back, we know that this painting was created after 1861. It is a very typical example of banks' work which often focussed on children simply being children.
The painting is in pretty good condition and the colours are still lively and bright. Please take the time to carefully examine each of the photos, as there are some marks and scratches mainly where once there was a frame, but also please note the corners of the panel where there is some wear. The signature will be found at the bottom right.
