Born in 1909, Jean Mazeaud studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris from 1932 to 1935. A model-maker at the Manufacture de Sèvres, he met Jean Faverot, a plaster-molder at the same factory. They resigned in 1946 and joined forces to create Les Ateliers de Céramique de Sèvres. They invented their own style, creating the technique of gold projection on their ceramic pieces with their characteristic design of the 40s and 50s.
The workshop lived on for some fifteen years, producing elegant, refined pieces that today still find their place in both classic and designer interiors.
