Born in 1904, Italian designer Romeo Rega was one of many 1970s designers to combine modernism and glamour in their furniture creations. Rega symbolizes this style, and his brand is estimated to have been launched on December 31, 1969. It produced lighting fixtures, chairs, tables and display cases, identified by the double "R" logo until 1981, when it ceased production. Although little is known about his personal and professional life, Rega's legacy is enduring, not least because of the arrival of his creations at vintage auctions and his popularity with collectors.

Rega's furniture is characterized by geometric, reduced forms. His creations are almost always gilded, chrome-plated or brass-plated, adding the elegance and charm for which Rega is renowned to sleek, modernist pieces. Although there is little verifiable information, some sources claim that Rega worked with renowned designers Willy Rizzo and the prolific Gabriella Crespi, due to the similar aesthetics of the three designers.
