Animal bronze with brown patina signed Ary Jean Léon Bitter (1883-1973), renowned French sculptor who was a pupil of Jules Coutant. His works appeared at the Salon des Artistes Français between 1910 and 1939.
He obtained an honorable mention in 1910 and several medals. Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1932, he was awarded another gold medal at the 1937 International Exhibition.
Subject not republished, therefore rare, "Goat and his kids" is a bucolic bronze underlining the passion of the artist for animals. The goat walks accompanied by her two young. Ary Bitter sculpts them in a fine and rough way.
On the terrace we find the signature of the artist and on the back his monogrammed stamp.
This touching and singular work will seduce lovers of animal bronzes.
