Paul Éluard, by Eugène Émile Paul Grindel 1895; 1952.
French poet, one of the leading representatives of the Surrealist movement.

Jean Picart Le Doux France 1902; 1982:

He began his career in bookbinding and publishing, then devoted himself to advertising and graphic arts, publishing his first works in 1935. His first tapestry cartoons date back to 1943, after winning first prize for theater posters at the Salon de l'Imagerie. Before the war, he worked with Jean Lurçat on a cover project for Harper's Bazaar magazine, who encouraged him to study tapestry. Between 1939 and 1945, he created his first cartoons without any prior knowledge of tapestry techniques. Along with Jean Lurçat and Marc Saint-Saëns, they founded the Association of Tapestry Painters and Cartoonists in 1947. Jean Lurçat was its president, and the last two were vice-presidents. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Société Nationale des Beaux Arts in the Decorative Arts section from 1975 to 1980.
Signed on the front lower right.

Original label with the title of the work and signature still legible.
