Very beautiful prow of dugout in the shape of crocodile head collected on the banks of the Sepik river in Papua New Guinea. The pirogue is still the most common means of locomotion in the Sepik River valley. Most of these pirogues used in the lower and middle Sepik regions have a carved bow representing a crocodile head, a feared and revered animal. Wood with traces of use. Possibility of base on request only. Free shipping. Photos by David & Amélie Godreuil.
