Belgian primitive art collection

Katsinam sculptures, also known as Kachina, are living witnesses to the customs of Arizona's Hopi Native Americans. They come to life in traditional dances during annual celebrations dedicated to the rain. The Kachina dolls, emblematic of the Pueblo Native American group, which includes the Hopis, Zunis, Tewa Village, Acoma Pueblo and Laguna Pueblo, serve as educational tools handed out to children at the end of festive rituals. These statuettes represent a wide variety of spirits, embodying the Kachina dancers, with colors associated with the cardinal points. In this set, five statuettes are carved in soft wood, with a velvety matte patina and slight abrasions.

The piece comes with its certificate of authenticity.
