    Crowned Virgin and Child in White Plaster, Early 20th Century (2)

    A creation of early 20th-century French religious craftsmanship, this representation of the Virgin Mary and her son Jesus is deeply moving.

    Made of plaster, this statue was sold to Parisian religious orders for their pilgrims to help finance the church.

    Its style is reminiscent of a modernized Gothic or medieval style, which today would be considered Art Nouveau. Their expressions are quite touching and human, although they symbolize the sanctity and sublimation of the Virgin, crowned with the grace of God.

    In very good overall condition, some minor losses/wear may remain due to the age of the statue and the nature of its material.
