Large gilt bronze lamp with chiseled decoration of a Renommée, flame in hand, wings spread.
On the point of a foot, it dominates the sphere constituting the base with plamettes, of square form in onyx.
Empire style.
End of the 19th century.
This lamp still has its original gilding.
Lampshade to change.
The Renommée is a Greek allegorical deity, winged deity, carrier of the messages of Zeus.
There are multiple representations in Versailles (Neptune's Basin), in the Louvre by Coysevox, in Chantilly at the top of the Grandes Ecuries ... or even at the top of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
