    Large mantel in black marble from Sablé sur Sarthe, featuring a molded lintel with a stylized rosette on either side.

    The lintel is supported by two molded jambs and topped by a straight shelf molded with a filleted motif on 3 sides.

    Work from Nantes, Louis XVI period.

    This marble from the Sablé sur Sarthe region was used extensively in the Laval area for altarpieces, in Versailles for the marble court and in Nantes for the numerous mantels that adorned the interiors of shipowners' mansions and the follies of Nantes.

    Good condition; shelf restored.
