Oil on canvas circa50. 65x50cm. New York period. A rich, harmonious palette and intense light bathe this beautiful abstract composition.
German-American, she joined the Parisian art scene in the late 20s, studying painting at the Académie Ranson with Roger Bissière. and DERAIN.
She fled the conflict in Europe and emigrated to the United States in the '40s. This was to be the richest period of her career, and in the 50s she became close to abstract expressionism, then in vogue in New York. She exhibited at the Bodley Gallery alongside Matta, Brauner, Magritte and Max Ernst. In 1957, she had a museum exhibition at ARNHEM. In 1961, at the Hanover gallery in London.
