    A charming maritime scene in the taste of the 17th-century Dutch school, this composition, bathed in late-day light, depicts an elegant sailing ship flying the Dutch flag, surrounded by barques and fishing boats moored at a busy pier. The sky, in rich shades of blue, pink and gold, reflects subtly on the calm waters, reinforcing the poetry of this harbor atmosphere.
    The artist, active at the end of the 19th century, was inspired by Dutch masters such as Willem van de Velde, Bakhuizen and Jan van de Cappelle.
