Signed painting by Piet Volckaert (1902 / 1973, biography attached) depicting a harbor view with boats. Very well referenced artist (record sale at 3600 euros in 2018). Very fine workmanship for this oil on canvas (stretcher with keys). Beautiful condition (healthy paint layer, edges reinforced with linen strips, invisible when framed, so the canvas is perfectly taut). The last photo gives you an idea of the work's scale.
Short biography :
Trained at the Saint-Gilles academy, a pupil of F. Gaillard, he focuses on depicting Brussels life through its alleyways, market scenes, canal views and portraits, or urban landscapes.
