Japanese porcelain vase with Imari decoration, gilt bronze lid grip. The vase is in Japanese Imari from the 18th century, it is completed with a lid that also seems 18th century, the handle and the mount in European gilt bronze from the 19th century.

With their very recognizable decoration with red and blue floral motifs enhanced with gold, Imari porcelains were very successful in Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries, imported by boatloads from China and Japan. The merchants then sold them as they were or transformed them by embellishing them with beautiful European bronzes gilded with fine gold, like this one.

It is a large format, ideal as a centerpiece on a piece of furniture.

It is in very good condition, fresh colors, unworn gilding.
