Pair of Louis XVI wide armchairs in blond walnut, resting on 4 tapered, fluted and curved legs.

The molded belts are joined to the front legs by pretty flowers and to the back by pointed motifs.

The arm brackets repeat the fluting and filleting of the legs, as well as the molding of the belts, and join up nicely with the uprights of the backrest.

The trapezoidal, cabriolet-shaped back ends in small feather dusters.

Louis XVI period Lyon work, circa 1785/90 attributable to François Lapierre.

Very good condition of the woodwork; a few stains to the fabric.

François Lapierre (1753-1823), awarded a master's degree in 1784, practiced in Lyon. He produced chairs that were purely Louis XVI and sometimes Transitional, but always well-proportioned. The sturdiness and elegance of this well-architected, generously shaped chair are particularly noteworthy.
