Pumpkin" 2-seater sofa in red alcantara by Pierre Paulin for Ligne Roset.
Height 70 cm, seat height 36 cm, length 180 cm, depth 80 cm.
The first public edition of the lounge designed in 1971 for the private apartments of Claude and Georges Pompidou at the Palais de l'Elysée, Pumpkin is characteristic of Pierre Paulin's revolutionary style which he initiated at the end of the 1950s. Formally, Pumpkin evokes a giant pumpkin that offers a protective and voluptuous shell to its user. Impossible to resist its call!
Pierre Paulin (1927-2009) is a French designer. His talent lies in a shift from decoration to design, which is quite characteristic of the post-war period in France, and in the materials used to make the seats. These are stuffed with foam and dressed in innovative fabric.
