Beautiful set of 24 knives - 12 table knives and 12 cheese knives - in the Louis XV style, silver handles (a solid silver shell covering a rigid handle - wax, cork...), steel blades.
Our set of knives is a rare opportunity to complete a Louis XV-style menagère: Louis XVI or Empire knives are difficult to match with a Rocaille-style menagère. The model here is a classic Louis XV menagère (easy to complement with models by Soufflot, Caron, Hénin...), richly decorated and finely chased with shells, flowers and acanthus leaves.
The silver handles bear the Minerve 1st title hallmark (silver alloy 950/1000) and the hallmark of the silversmith Paul Devaux, active from 1902 to 1920.
Our set is in very good condition. No dents or cracks. The steel blades, which have not been chromed, naturally show traces of oxidation. They are housed in two cases.
Table knives: 25.4cm
Cheese knives: 20.9cm
