A small, charming painting in the Victorian genre by British artist J. O. Banks who is known for his paintings of children playing in the landscape. He lived in London between 1856 and 1873 and some of his paintings have been exhibited at the Royal Academy. With the label on the back, we know that this painting was made after 1861. This small unframed panel is in fairly good condition and the colors are still very much alive. Please take the time to carefully examine each of the photos, as there are a few marks and scratches mainly where there used to be a frame. Also, take note of the corners of the panel where there is wear.
A well known auction house in London looked at the painting several years ago and confirmed that it is definitely a work by Banks, I understood that at the time it was not at sell, it was all about insurance.
