Hibachi type brazier opening with three drawstrings in natural Keyaki wood facade. A copper-covered embers tank, very nice carpentry work with tenon-mortises, and dovetails. Handles for easy movement, removable bowls. This very decorative authentic-looking object can easily form a planter or a coffee table (mini-bar). Nice patina, Japan, Meiji period, late 19th century.
width: 46 cm
About the Hibachis:
Traditionally used in Japan as a means of heating, for cooking, the first were probably made of wood covered with clay, they are subsequently built in ceramic or wood but the ember pan is then covered with copper.
