Collection of shells for Cabinet de Curiosité use, presented in small cases, each identified by its Latin name on a label. The collection is presented in an old Parisian Naturalist box, in cardboard lined with paper simulating leather. The box opens so that the shells can be admired with a magnifying glass. 20th-century work in the 19th-century taste.

The ancestors of the Natural History Museum, Cabinets of Curiosities were, from the 16th to the 18th century, places where people collected a multitude of rare or strange objects representing the three kingdoms of nature (animal, vegetable and mineral worlds). A fine set, ideal for complementing a 19th-century neoclassical décor.

This box is part of a series of 4, to be found in our gallery.
