Beautiful projection lantern, complete with carrying case, from the Mazo factory in the late 19th century. Its main quality is a solid copper optical system with variable spacing, adjustable by a helical screw on the front of the unit. This complete lantern even comes with a 4-wick kerosene lamp. In used condition and generally well preserved. Length 45.5 cm.
- Invented in 1659, the magic lantern, ancestor of the slide projector, first fascinated crowds as an entertainment tool. At the end of the 19th century, it was introduced into schools as a genuine teaching tool.
