Noel FEUERSTEIN - [Sceaux 1904 - Bourges 1998] - French sculptor
Autograph manuscript entitled "Rodin" -
13 pages, large quarto - erasures and corrections - Very good condition - A beautiful and lengthy manuscript by the sculptor Noel Feuerstein on Rodin, the man and his art. He observed that "the decline of the mystical spirit explains the uncertainties, the artistic anxieties, the ongoing searches since Romanticism that create so much confusion in the visual arts." "Rodin's work appears to us as the concrete expression of this immense drama. It clearly expresses the inner struggle waged in the depths of conscience: the desperate yearning of suffering souls called by God and hindered by matter with all its seductive forces." A very beautiful text, undoubtedly for one of his lectures at the Bourges School of Fine Arts, a sculptor's tribute to his master.
