Memoirs of Tallemant des Réaux, Volumes 7-8 and 9-10, 1840

Born in 1619 in La Rochelle and died in 1692 in Paris, Gédéon Tallemant des Réaux was a French poet and writer.

Known for his "Historiettes," collections of memoirs about his contemporaries, he is also known for his outspoken views, particularly on religion. Of Huguenot origin, Gédéon Tallemant des Réaux lived through the revocation of the Edict of Nantes by Louis XIV and remained faithful to his beliefs until the end of his life.

The repression of Protestants was so severe that he ended his life largely in debt, accused, and subject to sanctions and fines that tested his faith. This collection of memoirs, while part of a larger series, offers a glimpse into the life of this writer who chose his faith over his wealth.

Fast and careful shipping to France, Europe, and worldwide.
