Celestial globe or navisphere
1st half of the 20th century
FOREST J., GIRARD & BARRÈRE publisher
Paris
Creator: Edouard Perrin (1852-1926)
Very good general condition except for a crack from the north pole downwards
and a trace of blue styling on the south pole.
An instrument that represents the celestial vault, the navigator can orientate, in latitude and time, so as to recognize the name of the star whose height he takes with the sextant.
This instrument is useful when the sky is not completely uncovered and it becomes difficult to locate the stars directly in relation to each other.
