Modify
Beautiful mortar, good size, in cast iron, truncated cone-shaped body with two strong winged handles, pastillages in relief of four fleurons, and two coats of arms of France, the 3 fleurs de lys. Base and rim strongly flared with concentric steps, very good condition, no cracks, few traces of corrosion.
Probably for the apothecary of a military hospital, Louis XIV period, before 1700.
21cm x 12cm, weight 3.2kg.
Attached is a fine antique boxwood double pestle, which has a scar in the center but is quite solid.
