    An anthropomorphic snuffbox from the early 19th century that is truly unique.

    Shoe-shaped snuffboxes are common, but this one stands out with its beautifully crafted foot in a sandal.

    It is made of carved walnut with a lovely patina. The sandal stands out against the blackened walnut, and the toenails are inlaid with bone, as is the lid, which is also inlaid with bone within a diamond shape.
    It is in excellent condition, and the lid functions perfectly thanks to a small brass ring inlaid in the bone diamond.
    Note the exquisite detail of the foot, with its charming toes and especially the delicate ankle.
    A very fine collector's snuffbox with an original subject.
