Ritual sculpture of reliquary Kota Obamba of Gabon measuring 49cm except base, core of monoxyl wood plated with copper stapled beautifully patinated. It is to note the great mastery of the work of these materials. The age of this dense wood is quite remarkable with its deep patina of use and its erosions of time indicating that with certainty one can date this sculpture at the latest at the beginning of the 20th century. An unpublished object in its juice completely homogeneous without any doubtful "bricolage" having spent most of its time as a travel souvenir at the bottom of a trunk. It is to be noted an old break amputating the leg of the object. The metal base is of modern construction.
