Statue featuring a male figure seated on a stool. The legs are bent and the elbows rest on the knees. The hands are placed against the face just below the temples in a thinking attitude. The finely-worked face is characterized by a rounded forehead, excavated eye sockets, a narrow rectilinear nose and a discreet, slightly protruding mouth. The overall expression is meditative and interiorized. The sculptor has given the back a very interesting treatment. An incised groove structures a composition with angular shoulder blades and taut modeling. A nail between the legs has been planted and curved.
This type of statue symbolizes wisdom, self-control and moral authority.
