    CEREMONIAL SHORT SWORD
Culture Konda, Democratic Republic of Congo
First half of the 20th century
    Iron and wood
Height: 42 cm; Width: 20.5 cm
    (Old wood slot)

The Konda culture is identified with this particular cut of the blade at the level of the proximal part: a triangle whose top is included in the handle gives rise to an attached disc. The blade then tapers into a thin rectangular band to divide into two asymmetrical calligraphic growths that signify "Allah".
The wood is cylindrical, dressed in a coiled iron ligature.
    On bronze plinth.

This weapon was considered an object of prestige and was reserved for ceremonial rites.
