Rare Malagan dance mask collected on the Tabar Islands in Papua New Guinea. This mask, called "Tatanua", represents a person's soul and is used for commemoration ceremonies. These relatively light wooden masks are worn during ritual dances. This one, for example, was used in a large ceremony held in February 2020 on the island of Tatau.
