Rare Malagan dance mask collected on the Tabar Islands in Papua New Guinea. This mask, called "Tatanua," represents a person's soul and is used in commemoration ceremonies. These relatively light wooden masks are worn during ritual dances. This one was notably used during a large ceremony held in February 2020 on Tatau Island.
