Old hut post. This post was once the load-bearing element of a ceremonial hut. All the huts in the Sépik river valley are built on stilts in anticipation of the annual floods. Wood eroded by time and use. Ceremonial huts are regularly rebuilt. The posts, which are more resistant than the light materials used for the roof, walls and floors, can be reused. However, if these huts have been definitively abandoned, it is possible to acquire them, which is what I did for this specimen. Each post or beam is carved by one of the village clans, representing their ancestors and totemic animals. Good condition. Sold mounted on base. 215 x 25 x 22 cm / 3500€ on base. Free shipping to France / 100€ to Europe / other countries on request.
