Particularly aesthetic painted bark, collected in the Washkuk Mountains region of Papua New Guinea. These paintings on sago palm bark decorate the inside of roofs as well as the pediments of ceremonial houses, and depict ancestors or clan beliefs in abstract or figurative form. Assembled together, they cover the ceilings of these large, prestigious huts.
