Fragment of a "Yipwon" cult figure collected in the village of Sevenbuck in Papua New Guinea. The Yipwon is one of the most stylized and symbolic objects from the Sepik River region. It represents a two-dimensional figure with ribs, its heart located in the central part and the head. The large specimens are placed in the Haus Tambaran (house of men) and are closely related to the warrior world. Its other name, wanleg (from the English "one leg") in pidgin English designates all the figures of this style found in the region of the river korewori. Very nice piece sold on a base.
