Statue representing an anthropomorphic spiritual ancestor, referencing a founding myth of the original clan. The face features a nose resembling a bird's beak, a typical form in the Sepik River estuary region. Animistic beliefs are thus frequently evoked in Papuan sculptures. Wood with a patina from use. Statue mounted on a metal base. Approx. 41 x 10 cm / €550 including shipping.
