Pair of Napoleon III Period Candlesticks
An elegant pair of candlesticks in blackened metal and gilt bronze, resting on a tripod base decorated with rocaille and foliate motifs.
The central column shape, the refined moldings, and the contrast between the black and the gilt highlights evoke French production from the second half of the 19th century, in the Napoleon III style.
The decoration is inspired by a revisited Louis XV style, very popular during the Second Empire.
The bronze candle cups still show traces of their original gilding.
