A 19th-century fine porcelain box, rectangular in shape with a slightly domed lid, decorated with a mythological scene depicting Venus and Adonis, hand-painted in delicate polychrome tones.

The interior is entirely gilded, attesting to an object conceived as a luxury item.

The box rests on small gilt bronze feet and is fitted with a matching mount (hinge and knob). A high-quality piece, characteristic of 19th-century European production, in the style of the great French manufacturers.
