Pair of Rococo spelter and red marble mantelpiece vases, late 19th century

Created in the 19th century, this pair of decorative vases is inspired by the Rococo style, reimagined for 19th-century tastes.

They are a beautiful example of 19th-century French craftsmanship: combining artistic casting techniques in patinated spelter to create these small cassolettes or soliflore vases with the artistry of marble carving, featuring a base in the shape of a cherry-red bollard.

In excellent condition, this pair of vases was used to decorate the mantelpieces of bourgeois homes. Today, they await their place once again on your mantelpiece, or on an antique chest of drawers, according to your imagination, to enhance your interior décor.
