Porcelain openwork bowl with floral motifs and cherubs - Rococo style
Superb decorative porcelain bowl, finely openwork, richly decorated with floral motifs in relief and two lateral cherubs (putti) each holding a flower. Very fine workmanship, in the spirit of late 19th-century European Rococo-inspired production.
Description
The bowl features an openwork latticework structure all around the inside, revealing delicate carving.
It rests on a curved pedestal with molded decoration enhanced by gilding.
The decoration is composed of :
Hand-painted polychrome floral bouquets (violets, forget-me-nots and other stylized flowers) on the central reserves.
Relief-applied flowers (carnations and buds) in shades of powder pink, creamy white and soft green.
Leafy stems modeled in the round run along the base and sides.
Gilded highlights underline the moldings and scrolls.
Two finely modeled porcelain putti frame the bowl on either side. Each is holding a small flower.
