Reduction of an antique style column in scagliole.
The sides of the plinth are in red porphyry framed by brocatelle sienna marble, the top in a sky blue and white checkerboard with a red porphyry stud in each corner previously connected to each other by a chain. The base of the column, square in shape, is also in siena brocatelle, veneered with red porphyry, the shaft of the column in siena breach is surmounted by a bronze statuette representing an ephebe.
This 20th century copy is inspired by the production of craftsmen such as Luigi Valadier (1726-1785) or Francesco Righetti (1749-1819) and recalls the memories brought back by the aristocrats during the Grand Tour.
Gaps and old restorations are to be noted.
