Pair of large Louis XIV style bronze andirons with marmosets, 19th century.
While this type of andirons was a great success in the 19th century, equipping the fireplaces of all neo-Louis XIII and Louis XIV castles, our andirons stand out for their highly original Royalist decoration: the marmoset busts here are allegories of the Crown of France, which dispenses abundance (symbolized by the fruit). Other royal attributes include Dauphins and fleurs-de-lis on the balls.
A fine model, ideal for a mantel in an old chateau with Haute Epoque decor, or for a 19th-century chateau in the Louis XIII style.
They are in very good condition.
