Pair of hand-painted miniatures depicting a couple, most likely notables; the woman wearing a dress with lace collar and pendant; the man in jacket and bow, signed Rougeot de Briel* and dated 1856 and 1857, in blackened wood frames, 19th century.
These miniatures are in good condition. Signed and dated on the side.

* Jean ROUGEOT DE BRIEL (1795-1871).
Son of Bernard François Rougeot de Briel (1755-1843), who was maréchal des logis de gendarmerie. A miniature painter, he exhibited his work at the Paris Salon between 1833 and 1852.(1) At an unknown date, he left the capital for Elbeuf (Seine-Maritime). Artist listed on ArtPrice.
