Description

Wall-mounted holy water font (bedside or living room) dating from the late 19th century (Napoleon III style). A beautiful object of sacred art and domestic devotion, ideal for a collection of curiosities or charming decoration.

Features:

Significant dimensions: 36 cm high x 20.5 cm wide (a rare and sought-after size, much larger than classic bedside models).

Materials: Crucifix, Christ, and surrounding figures finely chiseled in bronze, mounted on an original burgundy velvet background, all set within a fine wood frame (mahogany/veneer).
Iconographic details: Exquisitely sculpted Christ, with motifs of a crown of thorns, reeds/ears of wheat, and the inscription "INRI" perfectly legible at the top.
Condition: Very good overall condition for its age. The metal has a superb antique patina. The velvet shows normal and authentic wear consistent with age, without any major tears. Sound wooden frame.
