Popularized in 17th-century Luxembourg, the Virgin Mary, Mother of God, is depicted with her son Jesus in rich & crowned garb. Made of silvered regula, she is supported by an altar-shaped base with Baroque arabesques.
Created in the 19th century, these charming statuettes were sold in parishes praising the cult of the Consoler of the afflicted. Made in France, today they are above all a devotional object & collector's item for lovers of old religious crafts.
