Large Patinated Bronze Corpus Christi – 19th Century
Magnificent and large bronze Corpus Christi from the 20th century. This solid bronze religious sculpture originally depicted Christ on the cross. It is now presented freestanding, ideal for a collector of sacred art or for displaying in a cabinet of curiosities. The work is distinguished by the finesse and realism of its casting (probably using the lost-wax method): the draping of the loincloth, the details of the muscular anatomy, and the movement of the hair are particularly well executed. The object displays a superb, natural gray-green patina with authentic traces of oxidation that attest to its age and history.
