    Rare silver reliquary containing a relic of the Blessed Virgin protected under bevelled glass. The fragment is affixed to a red fabric background surrounded by gold paper. Below, a handwritten label in Latin marked “Vel. BMV” for “Velo Beatae Mariae Virginis” or “Veil of the Blessed Virgin Mary.” 

    On the back, the piece is still sealed with red wax from an unidentified ecclesiastical seal guaranteeing the integrity of the relic.
