Elegant piece of furniture of the Napoleon III period, with the magnificent "Boulle" marquetry, named after Charles-André BOULLE, master cabinetmaker of King Louis XIV, who made famous this technique using the inlay of chiseled brass on a tortoise shell background. This process of ornamentation is found in various places, notably in the upper part, on the front and on the uprights, always on a black background of blackened wood, thus offering a beautiful contrast. The chiseled brass inlays, of country inspiration, are in the form of intertwined volutes, flowers, foliage and baskets.
This piece opens with a door on the right, composed in the corners of four concave elements: these are separated by chiseled bronze motifs, one of which is equipped with a key for opening. The oval-shaped motif in the central part, slightly curved, has an important bronze molding, with a flower decoration accompanied by a pearl. The interior in mahogany is structured with two shelves of the same species, adjustable on rack, with the field varnished in black.
In addition, this quality furniture at the height of support is enriched with many bronzes, including carved in the form of mermaids in the upper part of the amounts, in the form of flowers for the falls, but also in the corners in half round. Two moldings of the same alloy embellish the upper part, the first in applique and the second with a gadroon. A third molding festooned with shells embellishes the base in its overhang, while its perimeter, like that of the half-round corners, is finely underlined with inlays of brass fillet on blackened wood.
This piece is topped with an original veined white marble in perfect condition, which brings an additional shine to the whole.
This exceptional bicentennial piece of furniture will undoubtedly mark your interior with a sumptuous touch.
