Superb Renaissance-style, richly carved, solid walnut chest-bench dating from the 19th century. A decorative and functional piece with a strong visual presence, ideal for an entrance hall, living room, library or character interior.
Description

This piece features a wide lower chest opening with a flap, providing ample storage space. The front is adorned with an important high-relief sculpted decoration.
The upper part features :

a curved pediment with radiating decoration

A central mascaron framed by foliage

A sculpted frieze of flowers and foliage

Side jambs with columns and carved brackets

The three main panels are richly decorated:

Two fantastic winged figures (griffins or stylized chimeras) in relief on the side panels

A central panel with abundant plant decoration, cartouche and scrolled motifs

The armrests end in finely sculpted lion heads, resting on molded consoles.
The lower belt is decorated with elegant scrolls and a central rosette.
The interior of the chest is made of clean, untreated wood, offering ample storage capacity.
