Kachinas or Katchinas are spirits in the mythology of the Hopies and Zunis of New Mexico in the southwestern United States. They are offered at the end of ritual celebrations once a year to familiarize themselves with the spirit world.
Old Kachina doll from the first half of the XXth century measuring 38 cms excluding the base, carved in light cotton wood (poplar root), natural pigments, beautiful patina of time. An object acquired in Morocco and coming from the succession of former expatriates in Marrakech. The base of presentation in metal is modern.
