    This farm, kitchen or pantry table is full of the rustic charm of country furniture made by local carpenters from local woods, and bears the scars of its rustic use. Found in a lovely little Sologne home, where it was still used as a dining and kitchen table, it's no exception to the rule and bears the marks of intense use. It was certainly used to carve game and prepare vegetables, still earthy, freshly picked from the kitchen garden. Its mortise-and-tenon construction is simple, even if the assembly is pegged. The craftsman who designed it has also ensured its solidity by the numerous nails that appear here and there. It is made of fruitwood, and features a long drawer in the center of the waistband, which crosses the width of the table and can be pulled out on either side by means of a brass knob. On one end is a deep drawer fitted with a knob and a steel rosette, on the other end is a device that was designed to receive an extension cord, now missing, and finally on this side a sliding drawer opens to reveal a space where the loaf of bread was stored.
